I-84 Yankee Expressway, Wilbur Cross Highway

Direction: East/West
Western Terminus: New York-Connecticut border
Eastern Terminus: Connecticut-Massachusetts border

I-84 is an east/west highway from Scranton, PA, to Sturbridge, MA. It enters Connecticut from New York just east of the northern terminus of I-684. In this area, it is called the Yankee Expressway. It runs east from Danbury to Waterbury. After Waterbury, it curves to the northeast toward Hartford, where there is an interchange with I-91. Immediately after that interchange, the Yankee Expressway crosses the Connecticut River to East Hartford. A few exits to the east, CT 15 ends and merges into I-84. At this point, I-84 changes names to become the Wilbur Cross Highway. (West of this point, the Wilbur Cross Highway is CT 15.) I-84 runs northeast to the Massachusetts state line. It ends a few miles past the border at the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90).
