NY 22 is a major north/south route running through the eastern section of New York State. It begins at Boston Road (US 1) in the Bronx as Provost Avenue and runs north a few blocks to the Bronx-Westchester border. NY 22 runs north through Westchester, taking on a number of different names throughout its length. North of White Plains, NY 22 runs parallel to I-684. I-684 has its northern terminus at NY 22 in Brewster in Putnam County. North of this point, NY 22 has no name in most areas. It continues north through New York State, running very close to the border with Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Substantial sections of the northern part of NY 22 are multiplexed with US 4 and NY 9N. NY 22 ends at the Canadian border. Most of NY 22 is a two-lane undivided road, although certain sections are wider, especially in Westchester County.
